Poison ivy? myth or not?

Everything I read says when you scratch, it will not spread.

The puss/liquid that comes from the blisters will spread poison ivy.

Urishiol oil is the only thing that can give it to people.

Urishiol oil can last on clothes, furniture, tools, toys for months to even a year and you can keep getting poison ivy this way.

Why does it seem like i keep getting a little more ivy each day, and this is the fourth day since it showed up? Will it eventually stop showing up?

Poison ivy? myth or not?
The allergic reaction may be taking place slowly. Some people are violently allergic, so the reaction shows up quickly, while some are less allergic, so the reaction shows up over a peroid of days. Keep putting cortizone on it, and you'll be okay. If it keeps spreading, go to a doctor.
Reply:It does spread and yes, it will stop. In the mean time, STOP ******* SCRATCHING!!!!
Reply:sorry you have poison ivy it stinks, but scratching will spread it becuse you get some of the oil on your fingers and then spread it.
Reply:Poison ivy can get in your blood stream and cause you to break out in other areas. Trust me - go to a dermatologist now to get a topical steroid.
Reply:I add a link containing details about poison ivy and the second link points out some myths and the facts are printed beneath those myths. You will also note, in this link, that urishiol can last for at least 500 years, not just one year.

Reply:burn the clothes you were wearing when you goi it.
Reply:Most of this sounds about right. It will spread. If you can get steroids for it, that does the most good. If the itching drives you crazy, take some benadryl allergy, and it will help a lot. My doctor said that I may have some sort of record when I had it for 6 months straight. I got it that time from camping and burning wood that had poison ivy growing on it. It was seriously on every part of my body at some time during the six months..... EVERY PART! If you have a Drug Warehouse, or a Rite-Aid around you, they have some stuff that is in a white box, that has a bottle inside of it.... Tecnu, is what it is called, it is one of the few things that will remove the oils completely, and you can wash your clothes in it to so that you don't have to burn them!! If you know that you have got into some poison ivy, you can wash yourself in white vinegar, and it will help a lot---something about the ph balance of the ivy oil, versus the ph balance of the vinegar. I get it bad about 5 to 6 times each year. Hope this helps!

Tecnu, Tecnu, Tecnu!
