Poison ivy! My brother grabbed my arm with the gloves that touched poison ivy, and I have a spot on my arm!?

We have also had a lot of mosquitos right now... is this spot poison ivy or a mosquito bite? It is a bump 3mm in diameter and it is red around it. Can I get poison ivy from the gardening glove? How can I get rid of it and keep it from spreading???

You probably have a bug bit - poison ivy usually starts as an itchy rash, and then progresses to water-filled blisters. If it turns out you have poison ivy, it won't spread once the plant oil is completely washed off the skin. Photos of poison ivy and treatment info at the link:

Reply:You can get poison ivy from touching clothing or anything else that has been in contact with the plant. The same with poison oak and sumac. My daughter is highly allergic and what has worked the best and quickly kept from spreading is oatmeal bath from aveeno. You can find it in the soap section in any store or you can get the aveeno oatmeal cortisone cream which would work on a mosquito bite as well.
Reply:the irritant in poison ivy is an oil it will rub off onto any surface and is easily spread due to its makeup do not rub or itch it use baby powder on the area let sit for a few minutes and wash off repeat and leave the spot alone calamine lotion and other antihistamine topical ointments are the best way to stop the itch
