Poison ivy cure?

my wife has poison ivy and can't seem to get rid of it. is there a good cure for this?

Poison ivy cure?
• Remove your clothes and shoes and wash them in detergent and hot water.

• As soon as possible, wash all exposed skin with strong soap and water (or just water) to remove the plant's oils.

• Apply cloths soaked in aluminum acetate solution (Burow's solution), then calamine lotion or ointment to reduce the redness, ease the itching, and help dry up the blisters. Or take lukewarm baths with cornstarch (1/2 cup) or colloidal oatmeal added to ease the itching. DO NOT use topical antihistamines.

• Cover any oozing blisters with a clean gauze bandage soaked in a baking soda and water solution.

If the rash spreads to your face, mouth, eyes, or genitals, or if you develop a fever, headache, extreme redness, pus, or other severe symptoms, see your doctor. He or she will recommend one or more of the following:

• applying corticosteroid ointment or cream to the affected areas two to three times a day, gradually reducing to once a day

• taking oral corticosteroids such as prednisone

• taking oral antibiotics or using an antibiotic cream if an infection develops.

Because these are all potent drugs, ask your doctor about any possible side effects or interactions with other drugs you may be taking.
Reply:i had posion ivy a few months ago try lots of calamine lotion and just not scratching it because once it gets on your fingers its everywhere..
Reply:Ivy Dry. It's available at Rite Aid, Walgreens, And CVS.
Reply:Sometimes, if its bad enough, you have to take prednisone to actually get rid of it. Go see your doctor to be sure.
Reply:Aloe Vera worked well for my neighbors kids. They had it bad too.
Reply:wash your clothes with dawn hand soap (not too much or it'll overflow) because it does a decent job of taking it off of the clothes, otherwise the oil can stay there for over a year. and take benadril and put calamine lotion, oatmeal, of soak the afflicted area in chamomile tea. those can help with the itching.. if it's already over most of your body, go to the doctor and get a shot, it's the best thing to do.
Reply:Calamine Lotion dries up a poison ivy rash. I should know...My family use to have a grape vine in our backyard as a child and poison ivy grew literally everywhere around it. I was determined to get to the grapes unconcerned of the irritating itching and rash I would get soon after. Boy did I love grapes...LMAO

Good Luck
Reply:There is a wash called TECNU that you can get at any drug store. It stops the inching and dries it up.
Reply:one of the best over the counter medicans is caladril its calamine and benadril together makes the itching go away
